Covid 19 Response
The Days for Girls Team have been approached by Ken Peterson, Church Council President, to make N95 mask covers for first responders and hospital personnel. The mask covers are going to be used to prolong the usability of the N95 masks, which are intended to be a single use item; because of short supply, these masks are being used sometimes DAYS at a time, and this endangers the wearer.
If you want to help by making these masks, our local health care workers would appreciate it. I encourage our quilters to join us in this effort. I have cut 2-yard pieces of pre-washed quilter’s cotton that you may pick up from church. It is on the table in the Fellowship Hall along with a pattern and thread. I do not have elastic to give. The pattern is for a cover for a COVID-19 mask. The masks must be washed in hot water and dried hot before they are dropped off. There are other patterns available for face masks for patients to use. The completed masks may be dropped off at Hannah Johnson Fabric, 4511 E Superior St, Duluth. - Carol Surine
