volunteer your time & talent

We believe everyone is called to participate in activities within the church and community as part of our Christian life. We have many opportunities in every area of FRLC to use your gifts and talents to serve and grow in your relationship with Christ.

In addition to serving on committees, we have opportunities to serve on specific tasks. A sampling of opportunities to volunteer are listed below. If you see an item of interest, contact the volunteer coordinator. This individual will be able to provide additional details such as flexibility with schedules.

Please try to contact the project coordinator at least one week prior to the activity so the coordinator can plan accordingly for the event.

To place additional Volunteer Opportunities in the bulletin or newsletter, contact the church office. Include a brief description of the need, amount of time required, and contact information. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered for previously posted offerings. You are appreciated!

  • ASSEMBLY

Help tape, sort and count the newsletter.

Check the church calendar for date/time and just show up at church (use lower level doors). Usually takes about 1-1.5 hrs.

Coffee, conversation & treats, too! Need not commit year-round.

    MAIL DROP-OFF

Deliver the Parables mailing from FRLC to the West Duluth Post Office once near the end of the month; takes about 10 min. at the post office. Would like 1-2 more to rotate with other volunteers.

  • Meets Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m., work on various projects.

Variety of skills:  carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, woodworking, flooring, bricklaying and so on.

  • Practices second & third Thursdays @ 5pm in the sanctuary. If you would like to share your gifts in these pathways, email Pastor Kim at frlcpastorsturtz@gmail.com

  • Give Bell Choir a try! No previous musical experience necessary.

Practices generally before church for about an hour during the school calendar year. Contact Elda Hein 218.525.9560 for details.

  • Wicker baskets are in the narthex and are used to receive non-perishable items. Take a turn in dropping these off near the end of the month to the CHUM Food Shelf in downtown Duluth.

Our goal is to bring at least 100 packages of Ramen chicken soup packets to the food shelf each month.

A delegate is needed to keep the congregation up to date with CHUM needs and activities.

  • Get us up and running Sundays via YouTube. Basically you need to press a button or two.

Would like several volunteers trained—especially those who usher.

  • Organized materials are provided.

Rotate Sundays with others; 1.5 hrs/week; September - May.

  • Provided on Order for Healing Sundays (typically the third one of the month) during first 20 minutes of coffee fellowship time.

    Rotate months with other providers.

  • Help shape the programming of our Sunday School, Youth  & Adults.

Open to anyone; Youth input especially valuable.  Meets as needed; typically monthly, or ever other, during the school calendar year.

    Dream big with us!

  • Share your gift of music on Sundays during the summer.  Contact a member of Music & Worship to provide "special music" (one or more selections of your choice during the service).

  • As your garden produces goods and you overflow that you'd like to share, bring items to church on Sundays and place them in the box in the Narthex. There are bags provided for others to take home produce. After coffee fellowship, please bring back what you brought.

  • What would you like to sing? Suggest your favorite hymns and/or other music for our services.  Make a suggestion to the  Worship & Music Team either in person or put a note in their mailbox, or send your suggestion to the church office, or put a note in the offering plate.
